We have an open door policy, meaning parents are welcome to visit the school at any time. We encourage active participation in the program by parents and invite them to share customs or traditions. Parents may also assist in any of the school’s planned activities, demonstrate skills related to their hobbies or work, or help with the various fundraising activities.
At registration, parents are encouraged to sign up on the volunteer list posted in the school hallway.
Annual events, volunteers welcome:
- Friendship Lunch (November)
- NOVEMBER 4 Church Bazaar (we are closed on Thursday, November 2 in the PM and also Friday, November 3 all day)
- Holiday Celebration (December)
- Family Literacy Event (January)
- Year End Family BBQ (June)
Occasional volunteer opportunities (limited only by parent imagination):
- Sewing and toy repairs
- Book repairs
- Fish tank cleaning
On-going donations accepted:
- Fruit weekly
- Craft supplies
All on-site volunteers are legally required to obtain their first aid/cpr and a vulnerable sector reference check a This can be done at your local police department for a minimal charge. You will need photo identification that has your name, date of birth and address. Parents are encouraged to do this before the school year begins as waiting times vary.
The nursery school distributes monthly newsletters and calendars. The newsletter informs parents about the program and upcoming events. This information is emailed at the end of each month. Those families who don’t have email will find their newsletter in their child’s mailbox. Please check your mailbox on a regular basis. Daily information that needs to be relayed to the teachers can be written on the class attendance list.
During the integration period and throughout the school year, our teachers are available to discuss the progress of their children and any parent concerns. We recognize that children are unique and we strive to accommodate their individual needs within the program structure.
